Full Moon Wolf Walk - Wolf Conservation Center

Celebrate the September full moon with wolves! While keeping warm by the fire, guests will enjoy warm drinks, sugary treats and likely the symphony of howls from the 50+ wolves that call the WCC home. Guests will learn about the history of wolves in the United States, the importance of wolves in a healthy ecosystem and the efforts to save these magnificent creatures for future generations. The 8th annual JazzFest White Plains features an impressive lineup of internationally renowned musicians spanning a weeklong celebration of jazz, culture, and community. The five-day festival produced by ArtsWestchester, The City of White Plains and The White Plains BID is presented this year by Bank of America. In addition to dozens of free and affordable concerts taking place throughout the city, headlining performances will include artists such as Mwenso & The Shakes, Camille Thurman, and Emmet Cohen with George Coleman and Jimmy Cobb. JazzFest culminates during the White Plains Jazz & Food Festival from 12-5:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 15. Music and entry are free, with food and beverage vendors taking over Mamaroneck Avenue in front of the historic ArtsWestchester building. Five bands will grace the stage throughout the day, ending on a high note with the New Orleans sounds of two-time Grammy-nominated trumpeter Alphonso Horne and The Gotham Kings. Bring the whole family and spend the day, this is an experience you'll want to relive all year long!

Assembling Art: Works by Vin Giuliani - Bruce Museum

Opening Saturday, August 3, 2019, the Bruce Museum's newest exhibition, Assembling Art: Works by Vin Giuliani, will display the creations of Greenwich native Vincent “Vin” Giuliani, who transformed scrap wood, trinkets, and a colorful variety of found objects into artistic assemblages that represent everything from kitschy Americana to questions about the human psyche. This exhibition will feature a family friendly art assembly zone. Using found objects provided by the Museum, participants of all ages are invited to create unique pieces inspired by Giuliani’s work and by their own experiences and imaginations. Visitors will leave their assembled artwork for other participants to add to or to completely re-imagine.

Fall Crafts at Lyndhurst - Lyndhurst Estate

Crafts at Lyndhurst is a celebration of all things handmade. This shopping event showcases over 275 modern American makers, artists, and craftspeople. In addition, it's a fun day for the entire family with activities like interactive puppet theater, face painting, storytelling, balloon animals, stilt walkers, demonstrations, and more! This semi-annual event is held on the grounds of Lyndhurst, home to a neo-gothic mansion museum with on-going tours all weekend. Rain or shine. Free parking. No dogs.

Kids Create Like Burle Marx! - The New York Botanical Garden

Kids channel their innate curiosity and creativity and as they learn about the native plants of Brazil and become inspired plant lovers and designer-artists like Burle Marx: in the Children’s Adventure Garden, they can start their own indoor garden by potting up a fantastic philodendron plant, design a playful sculpture inspired by the bold colors and geometric shapes used by Burle Marx, and compare plants growing in the Bronx and Brazil to understand more about plant diversity.

River Explorers - Center for the Urban River at Beczak

River Explorers is our popular FREE Saturday program series for curious kids ages 5-12. Each lesson includes a hands-on river exploration activity followed up by a take home craft. An additional component of River Explorers is Hudson River Family Seining, designed for participants of all ages. During this program, participants will drag a seine net into the river catching and releasing hundreds of critters. All River Explorers programs are lead by educators from the Center for the Urban River at Beczak. Registration required.

Bicycle Sundays - Westchester County Center

During Bicycle Sundays, the parkway is open exclusively for bicyclists, in-line skaters, scooters, walkers, and joggers from Exit 22 at the Westchester County Center to Exit 4 at Scarsdale Road in Yonkers. The round-trip distance is 13 miles. The road is closed to automobiles in that stretch of parkway. Parking at the County Center lot in White Plains costs $8.

Family Gallery Tour - Bruce Museum

Shark-Feeding Demonstrations - THE MARITIME AQUARIUM AT NORWALK

Go “backstage” above The Maritime Aquarium’s “Ocean Beyond the Sound” exhibit for an exciting view of the sharks being fed and to learn about their care. The Maritime Aquarium is home to six sand tiger sharks, and one lemon shark, all about 8 to 9 feet long. For Aquarium guests, seeing the sharks through the exhibit window is impressive enough. But the “Shark-Feeding Demonstrations” add to the thrill, putting only a railing between participants and the sharks as the predators snap at food presented to them on a long pole. This program is 30 minutes long and participants must be at least 42 inches tall. Each session has a limit of 12 guests. Reserve your tickets and get more details online.
