27th Annual Italian Festival - Hofstra University

Celebrate Italy’s cultural and culinary influence on America at one of the largest and most beautiful outdoor festivals on Long Island when Hofstra University hosts the 27th Annual Italian Experience. The festival will take place outdoors, rain or shine, on the South Campus. The Italian Experience Festival is a popular tradition that features a full itinerary of crafts, live entertainment, children’s activities, and food. New this year to the festival’s entertainment lineup are singer and actress Francesca Capetta; Mickela Mallozzi from the Emmy Award-winning program Bare Feet; and Italian singer and actor Ciro Acampora. Returning entertainment includes festival emcee Cav. Josephine A. Maietta, president, AIAE, and radio host of Sabato Italiano on WRHU-88.7 FM; Sons of Italy Square featuring a display of regional folk costumes; and the Long Island Mandolin and Guitar Orchestra.

Seals in New York - Hallock State Park Preserve

Join the Atlantic Marine Conservation Society scientists to learn about the five pinnipeds (seal species) found in our local waters, the threats that they face during their seasonal time near Long Island, and how we can help them as we share our marine environment. Let’s Walk, Let’s Talk is a yearly walk and fundraiser hosted by Long Island Crisis Center.  Since 2009, The Walk has been an opportunity for people from across Long Island to come together, walk together, and raise awareness of suicide prevention in our community.  Each year, this moving and spirited event is attended by individuals and families – young and old – with the aim of spreading the message: "No one walks alone."

The Concorso d’Eleganza is a display of art forms on wheels as a means of illustrating one form of Italian culture. In recognition of Robert Cess, Marine Sciences Distinguished Professor Emeritus, Stony Brook University, whose interest in Italian automobiles, especially the Alfa Romeo, served as the inspiration and impetus for having this show initially and as a continuing annual campus event. Various Italian car and motorcycle clubs will be represented. 

Grand Opening - Westhampton Free Library

This event will mark the culmination of the library’s interior design and expansion project. The project included the conversion of 2,750 square feet of unused space within the library into reusable space. Specifically, it includes an expansion of the children’s program room, new teen area and program room, new multipurpose room, new tween area and reconfiguration of the main floor of the library to accommodate more efficient flow, new lounge area, group study and a quiet study room.

Elaine’s artwork has been commissioned & recognized by levels of government & still continues. Elaine’s paintings include the 2009 U.S. Open Bethpage Golf Tournament, the 2019 PGA Championship, LI Lighthouses & more. Emma, a Farmingdale student dedicated to helping type 1 diabetics purchase diabetic alert dogs, will exhibit and sell her artwork alongside Rufus, her diabetic alert dog. Many artists will be exhibiting, including Live Art with The Tiny Artist Studio.  Come see these special Long Island artists & also support Emma’s Journey! Children through 5th grade: bring your 8 1/2 x 11 drawing to Village Green to be displayed and receive a participation sticker. Ribbons to be awarded - Event organized by the Women’s Club of Farmingdale / Farmingdale Cultural Arts Committee. Rain date 9/22. 

16th Annual LONG ISLAND GARLIC FESTIVAL - Garden Of Eve Organic Farm

Waterfront Festival - Tobay Beach Marina

The Waterfront Festival is a free event featuring children’s activities, face-painting, snapper fishing, police boat demonstrations, marine and outdoor exhibits, New York State’s largest fish-shaped cake, and live musical performances. Live musical performances will be provided by Jimmy Kenny and the Pirate Beach Band, as well as Steel Margarita.

Jimmy Kenny and the Pirate Beach Band is an ultimate beach party tribute to Jimmy Buffet, Kenny Chesney and the Zac Brown Band, as well as country favorites, summer pop, yacht rock, reggae and tropical classics.  Steel Margarita will entertain attendees with their love of percussion instruments and Trop-Rock music.
