Animal Lover's Club - North Merrick Public Library

Teens will create beautiful flower crowns for shelter dogs. Shelter dogs can wear them in adoption photos and to adoption events! Online and in-person registration begins September 3. 1.5 hours of community service will be awarded. 

Family Quick Meals - Great Neck Library

You’ve heard all about it, now experience for yourself the delicious and fast acting wonders of the Instant Pot (Pressure Cooker).  Program is for caregivers and children who need to make delicious meals in 20 minutes or less. Three kosher friendly dinners will be prepared during the program:  Cilantro Lime Chicken  -  Butternut Squash Risotto (With Vegetable Broth) -  Cheesecake. Samples are distributed and Recipes are given to adult program attendees. Please Note: Ingredients will be Kosher, but the Pressure Cookers are NOT Kosher.

If your child is obsessed with the Baby Shark song, this pajama party event will be a great way to spend the morning with your little love.  Begin with a reading of the story Bedtime for Baby Shark. Then get crafting and create a shark hat using different craft materials. Before the shark swims away, stuff a cuddly shark for you little one to snuggle with at bedtime!

A Night of Star Gazing - Wantagh Public Library

Join the library on the back lawn for a night of star gazing.  Weather permitting you will be able to view the Moon and try to spot Jupiter and Mars! Tom Lynch will be there to take you on this journey through the night sky.  He will be bringing his own telescope for viewing and also providing information and instruction on the Orion telescope you may borrow from the library. WPL registration begins Monday, August 19, 2019. Out of district registration begins Tuesday, September 3, 2019.

Cold Spring Harbor Fish Hatchery & Aquarium Presents: Looking Back, Looking Ahead - Cold Spring Harbor Library

An art exhibit of paintings by Hatchery staffer, Diane Lundegaard is being held at the Cold Spring Harbor Library & Environmental Center. A donation of proceeds goes to the Hatchery's new Turtle Pond Exhibit. Paintings include fish, salamanders, and other aquatic life as well as a retrospective of the range of the artist's work from childhood to the present.

Imagine That! Family Art Workshops: Drip Painting - The Pollock- Krasner House and Study Center

Imagine That! Family Art Workshops for children ages 4-12 and adult companions presents "Drip Painting!" Families explore Jackson Pollock's art and studio, and then drip and pour paint onto their own huge paintings outdoors on the grounds of his home. The program is directed by the award-winning children's book author formerly at The Museum of Modern Art, Joyce Raimondo. Adults try their hand at drip painting too. Following an interactive tour of the now famous house and studio -- a national landmark in East Hampton.
