Disney Now Makes Cloth Face Masks for Kids and Adults

Disney Now Makes Cloth Face Masks for Kids and Adults

Disney fans will love these six cloth face covering options, which are available now for pre-order.

This week, Disney announced it will make and sell non-medical, reusable cloth face masks for kids and adults, following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s recommendation that everyone should wear a cloth face covering in public (something New Yorkers have been doing since mid-April, per Governor Andrew Cuomo’s guidelines). This is just one more way Disney is helping families through the coronavirus quarantine (have you watched the Disney Family Singalong or called the Disney Bedtime Hotline yet?).

The cloth face masks align with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s recommendations on non-surgical, non-industrial grade face masks. Disney’s cloth face masks will feature popular Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, and Marvel characters—and they’re available now for pre-order.

“We realize this is a challenging time for families and wearing any type of mask can be daunting,” said Edward Park, senior vice president, Disney store and shopDisney, in Disney’s blog post about the face masks. “Our hope is that Disney’s cloth face masks featuring some of our most beloved characters will provide comfort to the families, fans and communities that are so important to us.”

Disney’s 6 Cloth Face Mask Options

The Disney cloth face masks come in packs of four for $19.99 and are offered in three sizes—small, medium, and large. You can choose from six different themed packs:

  • Star Wars: designs include the Child (aka Baby Yoda), R2-D2, a collage of symbols, and a picture of Star Wars characters (Han Solo, Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker, and Chewbacca)

  • Mickey and Minnie Mouse: designs include Mickey figures in color, black-and-white Minnie figures, Minnie face with polka dots on red background, and Mickey icons on blue background

  • Disney Princess and Frozen: designs include The Little Mermaid on teal background, Frozen on purple background, Disney princess names in pink and purple, and Disney Princess figures on pink background

  • Disney: designs, which make the bottom half of your face look like the character, include Mickey Mouse, Winnie the Pooh, Stitch from Lilo & Stitch, and Marie from Aristocats

  • PIXAR: designs include Forky from Toy Story 4, PIXAR characters on blue background, Mike Wazowski from Monsters, Inc., and PIXAR characters on white background

  • Marvel: designs include the Marvel logo, Black Panther symbols, Marvel characters, and the Hulk

And to help those in need, Disney will donate 1 million cloth face masks for children and families in underserved and vulnerable communities across the U.S. These masks will be distributed by MedShare, a 501c(3) humanitarian aid organization. Plus, Disney will donate all profits (up to $1 million) from the U.S. sales of the cloth masks to MedShare, from now through Sept. 30.

Wearing and Cleaning Cloth Face Masks

According to the CDC’s recommendations, cloth face covering / face masks should:

  • fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face

  • be secured with ties or ear loops

  • include multiple layers of fabric

  • allow for breathing without restriction

  • be able to be laundered and machine dried without damage or change to shape

In addition, cloth face masks should be cleaned or sterilized after each wear in a washing machine. When removing a face mask, be careful not to touch your eyes, nose, and mouth, and wash your hands immediately after removing the face mask.
