Easter Seals Child Development Center—part of Easter Seals New York, which provides services to ensure people with special needs and their families have equal opportunities to live, learn, work, and play in their communities—recently opened a half-day pre-kindergarten for children ages 3-5 in Sayville.

The preschool, which is inclusive of children with and without special needs, is now taking applications and is open for tours. The teachers are state certified in both special education and general education, from birth to second grade. The program runs two half-day sessions from 9-11:30am, and 12-2:30pm. Two, three, and five-day programs are now available.

The curriculum at Easter Seals Development Center is based on creative curriculum that meets the children where they are at developmentally. This kind of learning style allows children to play in order to enhance their learning and education.

The staff evaluates each child’s learning progress, and the lesson plans are designed to fit the unique needs of the class. There are plenty of opportunities for children to partake in fun and educational activities, and with a small class size of 14, children will receive individual feedback. The Pre-Kindergarten also offers a play yard for free-play and out door activities.
