Head to Empire Outlets for Family Programming Throughout the Holiday Season

The city’s brand-new, first-ever outlet destination will welcome families with Santa, a lantern festival, a tree lighting ceremony, and more.

Empire Outlets in Staten Island, when fully complete, will contain 340,000 square feet of shopping paradise that includes designer outlet stores, restaurants and cafes, and relaxation spaces–and it will be the city’s first outlet destination. Empire is welcoming families in its inaugural holiday shopping season with a variety of programming that includes meet-and-greets with Santa, a pop-up holiday market, a lantern festival, a tree lighting ceremony, and Black Friday deals. Instead of traipsing out to Long Island or up to Westchester for your holiday gift deals, you can simply take the ferry and shop against a background of Manhattan views.

Beginning on Nov. 20, the fourth floor of Empire Outlets will transform into a holiday market where local merchants from Staten Island and beyond will sell unique gifts, holiday beverages, baked goods, and more. The market will be open until New Year’s Eve. After visiting the market, you can check out the winter lantern festival exhibit, which will run from Nov. 21 to Jan. 13. Snug Harbor and the Botanical Garden return this year with colorful, whimsical lanterns of jungle animals, sea creatures, dinosaurs, and more that come to life when lit and that kids will love.

The outlets will be open from midnight onward on Black Friday (Nov. 29 this year). You’ll find hot gift deals, entertainment, giveaways, and a “Rejuvenation Station” where you can receive a free massage with proof of your Empire Outlets purchase. The outlets will host a tree lighting ceremony on Dec. 3, which also happens to be Giving Tuesday, and the whole family will be entertained by a 40-foot crystal tree, live music and caroling, hot chocolate, seasonal bites, in-store shopping deals. You can bring a toy donation for Toys for Tots as well.

Finally–and no doubt what kids will be most excited about–Santa will be visiting the outlets from Dec. 3 to Dec. 24. Kids can take pictures with Santa, give him their gift wishes, and take home a holiday keepsake. Empire Outlets will also be collecting kids’ letters to Santa until Christmas Eve. For more information on all of the holiday revelry happening this year at Empire Outlets, head to the destination’s website.
