Super Duper Tennis Offers Lessons for Tots in Park Slope

Super Duper Tennis, a program that offers kid’s tennis lessons in NYC, recently began offering its tennis lessons for children in Park Slope, Brooklyn, at Powerplay.

Super Duper Tennis teaches children the sport using United States Tennis Association’s 10 and Under guidelines.

Super Duper Tennis, which offers tennis lessons to children ages 3-10, is expanding its services into Brooklyn.

While classes started Jan. 13 at the new Super Duper Tennis location—Powerplay in Park Slope—admission for winter classes is rolling for Mini Aces (ages 3-4), Tiny Aces (ages 4-5) and Little Aces (ages 5-6). There are currently no classes scheduled for Grand Aces (ages 7-10) at the new location.

The programs are geared to teach the fundamentals of tennis while making the sport fun and engaging for younger children. Super Duper Tennis programs adhere to the United States Tennis Association guidelines for children ages 10 and younger, allowing coaches to scale down the court using smaller, portable nets, smaller racquets, and balls that bounce lower.

The new location was chosen based on a growing demand in the neighborhood. “I had been teaching in my neighborhood in Manhattan and noticed that a lot of kids, especially that age, really want to get into the game,” says Zani Suttle, who is the co-founder and a coach at Super Duper Tennis.

“We started in churches and synagogues and any open spaces—it’s what we call ‘city tennis’,” says the coach, who explained that the idea for the program came about after her business partner had trouble finding a tennis program for his young son.

Super Duper Tennis has served more than 300 children since launching in March 2014.
