Farmhouse Family Day FREE
WHEN: Sep. 16 - 22, Third Saturday of the month, 11am-3pm
WHERE: The Wyckoff House Museum, 5816 Clarendon Road, Canarsie, NY
AGES: 3-12
WHAT: Bring the family to explore New York City’s oldest house. Arrive by 1pm for a unique hands-on making activity each month. Seasonal activities inside the historic house and around the gardens include scavenger hunts, artifact investigation, gardening, self-guided exploration, and hands-on activities. Activities are designed for families with kids ages 4 to 10. Children must be accompanied by an adult. No reservation required.

Roxanne Jacobson: Occupied Sites: A Look at Staten Island's Prehistory FREE
WHEN: Nov. 11 - Jan. 27, Monday-Saturday, 10am-4pm
WHERE: Conference House, Hylan Boulevard and Satterlee Street, Staten Island, NY
AGES: 5 and older
WHAT: Occupied Sites is part of Jacobson's documentary project, Visible Traces, that looks at prehistoric archaeological sites that have been impacted by development. This project locates, intervenes, and reveals sites that have been destroyed - seeking to make visible a history that has been erased from the land.

Santaland FREE
WHEN: Nov. 24 - Dec. 24, daily, see website for store hours
WHERE: Macy's, 151 W. 34th St., 8th Floor, Midtown, NY
WHAT: Visitors will wander through a 13,000-square-foot Christmas Village filled with holiday treasures, the biggest of which is Santa Claus himself. After meeting Santa, guests can buy a photo package. Visits are by reservations only this year.

Greencycle Holiday Swap
WHEN: Saturday, Dec. 2, 12-3pm
WHERE: Brooklyn Public Library - Leonard Branch, 81 Devoe St., Greenpoint, NY
WHAT: Bring cleaned, gently used, and working items over to Greencycle Swap. All remaining items will be donated to local schools, churches, Goodwil,l and/or Vietnam Vets of America.

Target First Saturday FREE

WHAT: This family-friendly event includes hands-on workshops, performances, films, and more. This month celebrates Latinx and Hispanic culture across the Americas in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month. Highlights include performances by Locos por Juana and Batalá; a curator tour of Proof: Francisco Goya, Sergei Eisenstein, Robert Longo; a salsa party hosted by Balmir Latin Dance Company; and a celebration of tropical music with Geko Jones and La Chiquita Brujita.

The 12th Annual DUMBO Holiday Tree Lighting FREE
WHEN: Monday, Dec. 4, 5pm
WHERE: Pearl Street Triangle, Water Street between Pearl Street and Anchorage Place, DUMBO, NY
WHAT: This year’s festivities include the lighting of a tree donated by Adam Parke Trees at Windswept Farm, calypso music from Brooklyn-based steel drum band Jah Pan, excerpts from the Nutcracker performed by DUMBO’s Gelsey Kirkland Dance Academy, hot cocoa, a visit from Santa Claus with a photobooth, and a toy drive of unwrapped toys for a children for the Big Brooklyn Holiday Toy Drive.

City of Science 2017: Brooklyn FREE

WHERE: Park Slope Armory YMCA, 361 15th St., South Slope, NY
WHAT: Join the World Science Festival and Con Edison for this larger-than-life, touring event where the wondrous properties of science, technology, engineering, and math collide. Filled with interactive demonstrations, hands-on activities, and enormous exhibitions, this program unleashes everyone’s inner scientist.

Family Christmas Bird Count FREE

WHAT: Blooming Naturalists of all ages can join a tradition more than one hundred years in the making. Join Prospect Park Alliance in this nationwide bird census that helps conservation researchers track the long-term health of bird populations.

Holiday Open House FREE

WHAT: Warm up by the fireplaces of the decorated Adriance Farmhouse at this celebrated annual event. Take a tour of this historic landmark building and enjoy seasonal kids' crafts and hot mulled cider throughout the afternoon.
