This Summer 'Glamping' is Coming to Governors Island

As if we didn't love the place enough already!

The Trust for Governors Island announced with Collective Hotels & Retreats, which has created luxury tent communities at Yellowstone National Park, Vail, Colorado, and Sonoma, California.

Starting May 2018 guests can sleep under the stars and take in views of the city from its most beloved island. Reservatiosn can be booked through Oct. 31, 2018.

The newly developed site will accomodate up to 100 guests, who can chose from various lodging options including a double occupancy tent with a shared bathroom, or a suite-style tent with a private bathroom. The suites also come with chandeliers, electric outlets, turndown service, and a private deck. Prices range from $150-$500 per night. Rooms are available to book now.

As part of their operation, Collective will open a new public lawn with free programming and new dining options for all visitors to the Island during the public season.

“Governors Island offers one of New York City’s most accessible getaways, and now, for the first time ever, New Yorkers will have the opportunity to experience the natural beauty and inspiring views from this magical place under the stars” said Michael Samuelian, President and CEO of the Trust for Governors Island, in a press release. “As we continue to expand our season and the diversity of our offerings, today’s announcement is an important step towards realizing our vision for a year-round, 24/7 Governors Island for all New Yorkers.”

“Since the inception of Collective Retreats, it has been our dream to have a presence in New York City,” said Peter Mack, Founder and CEO of Collective Retreats, in a press release. “We are thrilled to serve as the first hospitality brand to create an opportunity for New Yorkers and visitors to stay overnight and experience the beauty of Governors Island more deeply.”
