New Harry Potter at Home Portal Brings Hogwarts to You

New Harry Potter at Home Portal Brings Hogwarts to You

The new Harry Potter at Home portal provides new ways to consume the Harry Potter series and a variety of kid-friendly Harry Potter themed activities and videos.

UPDATED May 7: J.K. Rowling launched the Harry Potter at Home portal, giving kids access to a free collection of "child-friendly activities, videos, puzzles, illustrations, quizzes, creative ideas, articles, and more," according to the Wizarding World Team, to help combat the boredom during this period of social distancing (with a little magic!). The portal will give kids new to the Wizarding World and those who have been lifelong fans access to fun and engaging content to keep the magic alive during a time of uncertainty and fear. Now, Potter fans can listen to actors and other famous personalities read Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone, with a new chapter added every week.

Amongst those who will be reading the book include Stephen Fry, David Beckham, Dakota Fanning. The first chapter will be read by Harry Potter himself, Daniel Radcliffe. Kids can access the chapters in audio-only format on Spotify Kids, the free streaming platform for young listeners.

"Parents, teachers, and carers working to keep children amused and interested while we're on lockdown might need a bit of magic," Rowling said in a tweet.

By visiting the Harry Potter At Home Hub on WizardingWorld.com, you can find special activity kits, magical craft videos, articles, quizzes, puzzles, and more. The page will be constantly updating with new magical fun for Potter fans, so stay tuned!

If your little one is new to the Wizarding World, he can take The First Year Harry Potter Quizzes to test how much he knows about the first book. First Year quizzes include the Quidditch Quiz, the Hogwarts Professor Quiz, and The Hogwarts Houses Quiz. If she is more well-versed in the Wizarding World, she can find word searches and crosswords under Harry Potter Puzzles and even compare scores with friends.

If he is an artist, the Wizarding World Youtube channel offers a variety of DIY drawing lessons including How to Draw an Occamy, Magical Calligraphy, and How to Draw a Niffler. The Youtube page also has a variety of other videos for laughs, behind the scenes moments, DIYs, and tons more for your little Potter fans to enjoy.

Rowling partnered with the publishers of the Harry Pottery series to create new opportunities for fans to enjoy the Harry Potter books. In collaboration with Bloomsbury and Scholastic, Rowling created an open license for teachers to read the seven Harry Potter books to their students via virtual read along sessions on video. On Audible, fans can now listen to Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone as many times as they want in English, Spanish, French, Italian, German, and Japanese for free.  OverDrive, the digital library supplier, is also allowing users to borrow the first book for free as an eBook or audiobook through the end of April.

You can stay updated on Harry Potter at Home and any new additions, updates, or news by following the Wizarding World on Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook or by downloading the Wizarding World app.
