New iTero Scanner Reduces Discomfort for Patients at Valley Pediatric Dentistry

In November 2018, Valley Pediatric Dentistry in Jefferson Valley added a new smile-weapon to its arsenal: an iTero Scanner. Described by resident orthodontist Tamara Kroboth, DDS as a game changer, this wand-like instrument scans the surface of the mouth, capturing over 6,000 frames per second to create a digital 3D model of a patient’s teeth in just a short amount of time. There’s no radiation. It’s a faster alternative to the traditional mold techniques previously used to make impressions. Not to mention, it’s much more comfortable.

“Especially for younger patients, the iTero Scanner reduces any discomfort they may have,” says Dr. Kroboth. “It should be implemented in every orthodontic practice.”

With two locations in Jefferson Valley and Hopewell Junction, Valley Pediatric Dentistry offers a range of preventive and diagnostic services for young patients. In addition to evaluations, teeth cleanings and fluoride treatments, the practice provides restorative services, such as fillings, extractions, and dental crowns, as well as the creation of teeth adjusters like Myobrace and Invisalign. Included among their more specialized services are infant frenectomy and labial or lingual frenectomies. Whether it’s an infant’s first visit to the dentist or a teen seeking to whiten his or her teeth, Valley Pediatric Dentistry can cover it all.

Now with the iTero Scanner, Valley Pediatric Dentistry Jefferson Valley is able to provide comprehensive care with the most up-to-date technology. Excluding special cases, the scanner has entirely replaced mold materials when making dental impressions, which are required to create Invisalign aligners, mouth expanders, and other devices tailored to an individual’s teeth. In addition to reducing discomfort, the iTero Scanner allows kids to see the 3D models of their teeth for themselves, making for a much less anxious experience at the dentist. Valley Pediatric Dentistry Jefferson Valley has also named its scanner Rosie to help its young patients feel more comfortable.

Valley Pediatric Dentistry Jefferson Valley is located in 3630 Hill Blvd, Suite 101, Jefferson Valley. For more information, call 914-245-7100 or visit the Valley Pediatric Dentistry website.
