Karts Indoor Raceway Changes Name and Adds New Attractions

This month, Karts Indoor Raceway in Ronkonkoma began renovations to add several new rides and attractions to its facility. The new rides include a Frog Hopper ride (quick vertical motion to stimulate rising and falling), a Whip Ride (sudden spins and changes in motion), a Himalaya ride (spinning), and bumper cars. In addition to the new rides, Karts is revamping its game offerings to include a number of arcade games with tickets that can be exchanged for prizes, an iCombat game (a realistic, grown-up version of traditional laser tag), and a virtual reality roller coaster. The facility has also changed its name to Karts Indoor Raceway Family Center.

We are so excited about [the renovations],” says Lenny Elkins, a father of two and the owner of Karts Indoor Raceway Family Center. “We’ve been there for 13 years and we’ve added one or two pieces every few years, but now we’re really revamping. We want to be Long Island’s indoor amusement park.”

The birthday parties are getting a restructuring as well. Instead of encouraging children to keep to a schedule, the new attractions allow for a more flexible experience. Guests can customize their parties to include whatever rides, games, and races they like and visit each activity at their leisure. There will now be three party rooms instead of just one to accommodate more parties and larger groups, including camps, school trips, and corporate teams.

“We also have a great special needs program. We invite all children of different abilities to come in,” says Lenny.

The renovations are slated to be complete in February 2019. The facility will remain open during the remodeling.

Karts Indoor Raceway Family Center is located at 701 Union Parkway in Ronkonkoma, NY. Its hours are Monday-Thursday, 11am-10pm; Friday-Saturday, 11am-1am; Sunday, 11am-8pm. For more information, call 631-737-5287 or visit the Karts website.
