Landmark Preschool to Open Bedford Location in Fall

Landmark Preschool, which has locations in Redding, Ridgefield, and Westport, CT, will open its Bedford, NY, location in the fall. The Bedford preschool will offer half-day programs.

Landmark Preschool will open a location in Bedford in September for the 2015-2016 school year. The school offers programs for 2- to 4-year-olds.

The Bedford school will offer morning programs that run from 9am-12pm, and classroom sizes will be kept small with 12-15 children per class. Most Landmark schools offer a full-day schedule just a few days a week, but this modified schedule allows children in all programs to be in the classroom more often. The Twos program is two to three days a week, the Threes program is four days a week, and the Fours program is five days a week.

“We are going to have a schedule that encompasses more days so that families are able to come on a more consistent basis,” says Ann Hirsch, director of the Bedford location.

The curriculum touches on common core themes such as social-emotional development, math and number concepts, and handwriting skills. The school utilizes Smart Boards at all of its locations to enrich the learning experience. Hirsch commends the teachers, saying they are “committed to providing the best education for their students.”

“When we work on particular themes, we can bring that information into the classroom,” Hirsch says. “When we are talking about what a lion looks like in its natural habitat, we could bring up a zoo’s webcam and highlight that for them.”

Enrollment has already started for September, but spots are still available. Tours are available by appointment.
