Memorial Day is observed on Monday, May 27 this year and is a federal holiday to honor and remember the brave men and women who served our country’s armed forces and military. Get into the spirit of patriotism and remembrance by celebrating Memorial Day all weekend long at one of these events happening in Manhattan, including Memorial Day crafts, movie screenings, scavenger hunts, exhibits, and festivals around Chelsea, Governors Island, Midtown, and the Upper West Side. Also see where to celebrate Memorial Day across the New York City area, including Brooklyn and QueensWestchester and Rockland counties, and Long Island.


The Butterfly Conservatory: Tropical Butterflies Alive in Winter

FREE Fleet Week: Recreate the Saturn V Rocket

WHERE: The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum , Pier 86 , Midtown West

WHAT: In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 launch, kids and kids at heart are invited to help recreate the iconic Saturn V rocket out of LEGO bricks with LEGOLAND New York Resort and LEGO Lady Liberty at the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum during Memorial Day weekend of Fleet Week. Stop by the LEGOLAND New York Resort booth to hang with LEGO Lady Liberty and help construct a LEGO build of the Saturn V rocket.
