Mo Willems and More to Celebrity Guest Star in Big Apple Circus

Christie Brinkley, Mo Willems, and RuPaul's Drag Race's Alexis Michelle will join the ring as Guest Ringmasters for the Big Apple Circus this month.

Mo Willems, New York Times best-selling children's book author and illustrator, will kick off a month of celebrities in the ring on Jan. 16 as he serves as Guest Ringmaster in the 42nd season of the Big Apple Circus. Audience members will have a chance to win a signed copy of Willems' newest book  The Pigeon HAS to Go to School! Other celebrity ringmasters are Alexis Michelle of RuPaul's Drag Race and supermodel, actress, and author Christie Brinkley.

Michelle, an internationally renowned drag artist, singer, and native New Yorker, is no stranger to the stage, gaining international fame with her top five finish in the ninth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race. She also has a theatrical background, having attended LaGuardia High School, Interlochen Center for the Arts, and the University of Michigan’s musical theater department. She also performed in off-Broadway productions regionally and on tour. Michelle now stars in TLC’s Drag me Down the Aisle and will join the ring on Jan. 23.

Brinkley, who will be a Guest Ringmaster for three consecutive nights, will combine her modeling experience with her theatrical experience in the ring on Jan. 30, 31, and Feb. 1. She starred in the Tony Award-winning revival of Chicago and had a brief stint on Dancing with the Stars, but unfortunately had to leave early due to injury. Brinkley says she is happy to be fully recovered and returning to the stage at New York’s most iconic circus.

In addition to internationally acclaimed celebrity ringmasters, the 42nd season of the Big Apple Circus will welcome a whirlwind of jaw-dropping acts like “America’s Got Talent” finalists Savitsky Cats, New York comedian Amy Gordon, The Aliev Troupe acrobats, Trick Riders, the Lopez Troupe on the hire wire, the Wheel of Death, and more.
