UPDATED October 2018: If your child is a star on the rise and loves to perform on stage, consider sending him to a performing arts camp or summer program to hone in on his talent and further his skills. There are many dance, music, and theater camps taught by professional-level artists to choose from across Nassau and Suffolk counties on Long Island for children of all ages and skill levels. Programs include summer dance intensives, music theory, improv, stage presence development, runway lessons, photoshoots, acting for television. Eglevsky Ballet, under the artistic direction of Maurice Brandon Curry, provides professional caliber training for students of all ages and abilities. Eglevsky presents an annual production of The Nutcracker, two summer intensives, master classes, performing opportunities, and community education. The July Summer Intensive is geared towards serious dancers. This is a full-day program, with classes in ballet, pointe, variations, modern, jazz, character, Pilates, and pas de deux. Housing is available. The August Summer Intensive is a half-day program, Monday-Friday, and focuses on development of ballet fundamentals.

The Long Island High School for the Arts offers a four-week Summer Arts Academy that promises to be a rewarding experience for all aspiring artists sixth through 12th grade. Summer Dance-in its 38th year, the Ohman School of Ballet was founded by Frank Ohman, former soloist of NYC Ballet and one of the few remaining direct links to legendary George Balanchine. Offering a two-week summer dance intensive as well as a six-week summer evening program. The school opens its doors to all students who wish to study classical ballet and also serves as a training ground for promising young dancers. It is a nonprofit, non-recital facility with three spacious studios and convenient location.

East End Arts School offers nine weeks of camp each summer; two weeks of Renaissance Kids Camp for ages 5-8 and seven weekly camps for ages 9-14, in both fine arts and music. While the big kids are at camp this summer, have some family-style, music-makin' fun with your little ones. Once a week for six weeks, you’ll sing, dance, and play with your baby, toddler, or preschooler in a play-based, developmentally appropriate musical environment. The Stars of Tomorrow Summer Program consists of 20 days Monday-Friday during the month of July from 9:30am-3pm. The cost is $1500. Each day consists of singing, dancing, and acting, with a musical production for parents on the last day. Children bring their lunch but we offer snacks without nuts all day long. Students have access to a huge gym for exercise and we are down the block from bowling and other field trips.
