Patrick McEnroe Joins John McEnroe Tennis Academy

Patrick McEnroe, a former U.S. Davis Cup captain, will serve as the co-director of John McEnroe Tennis Academy.

Former professional tennis player John McEnroe, in partnership with SPORTIME, launched John McEnroe Tennis Academy in 2010.

The tennis academy welcomed Patrick, a former professional tennis player and John’s younger brother, as its new co-director in January. He shares duties with longtime director Lawrence Kleger. Patrick will be influential at JMTA in creating curriculum, corporate engagement, and fundraising for scholarship and community-based programs. He will also make decisions on coach and staff recruitment and training.

“I am looking forward to bringing my lifetime of learning, as a player, coach, and program manager, to my new role,” Patrick said in a press release. “I think that JMTA is just getting started and that my involvement can be a great addition. I am excited to work on my brother’s team!”

John shared his brother’s enthusiasm. “I am very pleased that my brother Patrick has decided to join us at JMTA, as we continue to refine our model and expand our impact,” he said in a press release. “There probably isn’t anybody that understands American tennis and New York tennis better than Patrick and nobody in the world that has better or more experience coaching talent at the highest levels of the game. Patrick is going to help us make a difference.”

SPORTIME operates more than 150 indoor and outdoor courts at 12 clubs across Long Island, New York City, Westchester County, and in the New York Capital Region. It provides classes and training for kids and adults. It also offers private tennis lessons and a summer camp for kids ages 3-18. The John McEnroe Tennis Academy has locations on Randall’s Island, in Westchester, and on Long Island.
