Portledge School Adds New Classes to Its Summer Program

Portledge Summer Adventures, a program held annually at the Portledge School in Locust Valley, has several new programs for children this summer.

Global Villages Science program, is a brand new experience which is open to lower school and middle school students. Kids will study a topic along with a class in a developing country. These classes will share videos back and forth about what they have learned and how that topic affects their respective communities.

Another new academic program involves a partnership with the Webb Institute, an engineering college in Glen Cove, where students enrolled in these science and engineering classes will test underwater robots and other creations involving engineering and physics.

There will also be a new program for SAT/ACT preparation, which will allow students to benefit from what Advantage Testing has to offer.

As for sports, Portledge is now offering field hockey, which will have two sessions: one in July for kids in grades 3-8, and one in August for more seasoned players in grades 8-12. These programs are being included in addition to the established science, arts, drama, education, early childhood, and sports programs offered by Portledge School during the summer months.
