Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Times Square Brings the First Escape Theme Adventure to NYC

Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Times Square, the world’s museum for weird, out-of-this-world enthusiasts, opened Ripley’s Relic, an interactive adventure with “scientific discovery” for the whole family, this June. This interactive, escape adventure takes visitors on an underground quest to unlock puzzles and decipher scientific symbols. The attraction is great for families, date night, or even a New Yorker in a rush!

The only way down to the mysterious cavern is through the service elevator.

Upon entry to the mysterious ‘service elevator,’ your guide will give you and your family instructions to ensure that the elevator gets underground safely. This includes identifying colors and numbers, matching up mysterious symbols, and truly putting your memory skills to the test. Make sure you hold onto the railing because it’s a bit of a bumpy ride down!

Your guide will give you instructions and a guide that will help you determine the correct color combination to get the elevator running smoothly.

The elevator will take you to the dark cavern produced with movie-quality set design, challenging you to crack the code and solve the Ripley riddle. The ominous voice within the cavern will help you determine how to solve the puzzle, which requires concentration, teamwork, and a good memory.

“It’s really a twist on an escape room,” says Andrew Albigese, marketing manager of Ripley’s Believe it or Not! Times Square. “You have a guide with you the entire time and it’s more interactive than your average escape room. The whole experience is only 15 minutes, it’s kid friendly, and it’s great for families.”

Tickets for Ripley’s Relic can be purchased online or at the door, and once you arrive you can pick whatever available time slot works best for you and your family, even if it means coming back later. Ripley’s Relic is a standalone experience and tickets can be purchased for $15 or in a money-saving package deal that includes entry to the museum as well.
