The children’s salon services also include mini facials, manicures and pedicures using kid-friendly nail polish, entertainment, kid’s hair care products and accessories, and specialty toys.

As part of a larger franchise, the East Northport location is the first Snip-its on Long Island. “Snip-its will be the first children’s salon in East Northport,” said Munisha Chadha, a local mom and the salon’s owner. “We’re excited to introduce such a unique concept to this community.”

All Snip-its stylists are certified to work with children with special needs, including those who are on the autism spectrum. It also offers a haircutting guide for parents of children with special needs, so parents can help prepare their children for the hair-cutting experience.

Snip-its will also offer children’s birthday parties. Kids can choose from four different themes, including Glamour Party, Spa Party, Hollywood Party, and Rock Star Party. All party packages include invitations, birthday cake, party favors, and a special gift for the birthday boy or girl.

The salon itself has floor-to-ceiling cartoon murals, life-size characters, music, and games. In the waiting area, children can play with toys, watch the Snip-its show, or browse the specialty toys, and each hair cutting station includes a chair for Mom or Dad to sit close by and an entertainment station with computer games and activities for the little ones.

Snip-its’s grand opening is Jan. 26 and 27, with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Jan. 26 at 11am. The salon will donate 20 percent of its grand opening proceeds to the EJ Autism Foundation, an organization that aims to raise awareness and raise funds for programs that work with children on the autism spectrum on Long Island.

Snip-its is located in the Elwood Shopping Center at 1966 Jericho Turnpike in East Northport.
