THE GYM of Armonk and North Castle Pool & Tennis Club are partnering this year to provide two summer camps for area children: Sports & Fitness Camp and Basketball Camp.

The Sports & Fitness Camp will introduce children to an athletic lifestyle by teaching them ways to stay active. A day at camp includes light fitness sessions, playing soccer, and swim instruction. The Sports & Fitness Camp offers full-day camp for ages 6-9 and mini-camp for ages 3-5.

“THE GYM of Armonk, in conjunction with North Castle Pool & Tennis, have a unique camp because it is offering professional instruction to young children who wish to learn swimming techniques under actual swim coaches, along with strengthening coaches who can teach lifestyle methods to become great athletes,” said Matt Spallina, youth program director at THE GYM.

The Basketball Camp, run by personal trainer and head basketball coach Michael Kach, will teach players ages 6-16 the fundamentals of the game, while working on skills and speed and agility training. Basketball campers will gain game and tournament experiences, as well as swimming instruction.

“We are looking forward to developing young campers into all-around people who can carry the importance of an active lifestyle with them throughout life,” said Jon Hulbert, pool director and head coach at North Castle Pool & Tennis.

The Sports & Fitness Camp runs June 10-Aug. 2, with one-, two-, and three-week packages available. The full-day camp for ages 6-9 will run 9am-4pm, and the half-day camp for ages 3-5 will run 9am-12pm. The Basketball Camp runs Aug. 26-29, from 9am-3pm.
