It's strawberry season!

Summer is upon us and that means a whole bunch of mouthwatering fruit will be in season, and that includes strawberries. Strawberries are at peak freshness from June to July, and there are many ways to enjoy this in-season fruit with festivals, fairs, and berry-focused activities. Take a look at this list of strawberry festivals and pick-your-own strawberry locations in the New York City area, including Beacon, Bellmore, Chester, Clifton, East Setauket, Massapequa, and Mattituck, along with farms in and around the area, including Hopewell Junction, Kinderhook, Newburgh, Red Hook, Tivoli, and Wading River, along with parts of New Jersey and Connecticut.

Strawberry Festivals in the NYC Area

Alstede Farms Strawberry Harvest Festival

Hours: June 2-24, Saturday-Sunday, 11am-5pm

Head out to the farm country and enjoy strawberries at their finest. There will be lots of strawberry-themed foods like ice cream, slushies, shakes, and cakes to try and take home. Enjoy a hayride down to the strawberry patch. Kids can have a blast on a pony ride or a tractor train. See the farm animals and the corn kingdom too! There’s lots of fun to be had and sweet strawberries to eat.

Beacon Strawberry Festival

The Beacon Sloop Club will hold its Strawberry Festival for another sweet season. Enjoy ripe and juicy strawberries and other sweet treats. Listen to live music and help raise money for the environment and other important social issues as you socialize with locals and friends.

Benner’s Farm Strawberry Fair Weekend

Strawberries always taste a little sweeter on the farm. Get some strawberry goodies like sundaes, waffles, jams, and chocolate while listening to live music and playing games including spoon races, wheelbarrow races, baseball, and bubble gum blowing contests. Don’t forget to see the adorable farm animals, too.

Historical Society of the Massapequas’ Annual Strawberry Festival

An old-fashioned strawberry festival featuring live music, homemade shortcake, face painting, raffles, and, of course, strawberries.

Mattituck Strawberry Festival

The annual Mattituck Lions Club Strawberry Festival will be in full swing to celebrate peak strawberry harvest season. Delight in sweet strawberries or some treats like shortcake or chocolate covered strawberries. There will be plenty of live music, carnival rides, arts and crafts, and even a fireworks display.
 

Nassau County Strawberry Festival

Come to Long Island to get your strawberry on! Take in some live music and other entertainment while delighting in strawberry shortcake, strawberry cheesecake, strawberry daiquiris, and more strawberry goodies! Strawberry Farms Near Westchester County

Fishkill Farms

Fishkill's strawberry picking season begins in June. Other fruits ready for the picking include cherries, peaches, and nectarines. While you are at the farm, see the adorable animals and visit the farmers market.

Samascott Orchards

Pick your own strawberries beginning in mid-June at this family-owned and –operated farm.

Greig Farm

Hours: 9am-5pm daily
Strawberries will be available to pick come June at Greig Farm. While you are there, the kids can feed pygmy goats and check out the koi pond. If you’re looking for some veggies, asparagus is in season and is delicious!

Lawrence Farms Orchards

Lawrence Farms Orchards will start its strawberry picking season over Memorial Day weekend. Check out the farm animals as well as the hay bale maze. Don’t forget their local dairy farm ice cream and homemade doughnuts—yum!

Mead Orchards

Visit this 180-acre fruit and veggie farm and pick strawberries to kick off the summer with deliciousness! As the summer goes on, other fruits including cherries, blueberries, apples, and plums will be ripe and ready to be picked.

Strawberry Farms on Long Island

Johnson's Corner Farm

Strawberry-picking season begins in late May and lasts through mid-June at this family-friendly farm. Head over on a weekend so you can take in some lively music and the kids can spend time in the bouncy house! There’s food available for an afternoon lunch and hayrides to tour the premises. Patty's Berries and Bunches

Patty’s is the home of more than 24 different types of berries. Picking season begins in June, so plan ahead. The farm is 40 acres of beautiful land and luscious fruit. Hit up the ice cream patch for cool treats at the farm. Flavors like sugar snap pea and blueberry bliss are not to be missed!

Lewin Farms

Lewin Farms was the first pick-your-own fruit and veggie farm on Long Island. Check out the corn maze while picking strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries this summer. There is so much lush farmland to take in on a sunny summer day.

Strawberry Farms in New Jersey

Sussex County Strawberry Farm

This family-owned farm is a great spot for picking your own strawberries this season. Pay a visit to the garden center to see a vast selection of flowers and check out the handcrafted rustic furniture from chairs to decorative pieces.

Terhune Orchards

Pick up some yummy strawberries through June at the family-owned Terhune Orchards. Be sure to visit the farm store with baked goods, gourmet treats, and local honey. There’s a vineyard and winery for the adults to delight it and horseback riding for the kiddos. There are 200 acres of fun waiting for your family to enjoy!

Strawberry Farms in Connecticut

Bishop's Orchards

Strawberries are ready to be picked and enjoyed in mid-June and the crop will last until early July. You can also pick tender and juicy blueberries and peaches for a fruit salad to drool over. Enjoy the sunflowers at the orchards in August. And for the adults… a winery!

Ellsworth Hill Orchard & Berry Farm

Enjoy picking your own succulent strawberries starting in June while the kids can marvel at the vintage Lionel model train display. Come late June, the cherries will be ready for picking too. While you’re in the area, consider canoeing or fishing nearby.

Jones Family Farms

Pick your own strawberries and blueberries at Jones Family Farms this summer. Give the kids a lifelong lesson with farm education workshops at the Harvest Kitchen. Adults can sip the day away at the winery on the premises. The Jones Family Farms has been in existence for over 150 years and is a special place to spend the day.

Rose's Berry Farm

Since 1908, Rose’s Berry Farm is the largest blueberry farm in Southern New England. Strawberry picking season begins runs from June through July. Come on a Sunday for their Breakfast with a View event through October. Eat on their deck overlooking the fields as you fill your bellies with a hearty breakfast topped with fresh season fruit from the farm.
