If your child has aged out of camp (why can’t they stay little forever?!) but wants to stay in the camp environment, why not get them to apply for a CIT program on Long Island? Young adults who become camp counselors gain valuable skills in their experience as a camp counselor that translate to the professional world, including communication skills and teamwork, leadership skills and responsibility, time management, and problem solving. With all these benefits, enrolling in a counselor-in-training program at a summer day camp is a no brainer! Beth Sholom Day Camp

Open to boys and girls entering 9th or 10th grade, it is designed to train and prepare them to become a junior counselor. Half of their day will be on-the-job training with a group while the other half consists of training, activities, and trips.

Buckley Day Camp

Our Junior Counselors (ages 14-15) are given leadership opportunities to assist lead teachers, while also being able to pursue their personal interests at camp. They receive basic first aid training, a junior lifeguard program, and flexibility to create a program tailored to their interests.

Your 15 year old may apply to be a CIT. All applicants are interviewed. We choose approximately 15 youth. Our CIT's receive a stipend each week they work. Most CIT's work 3 weeks.
