There is no better place for a self-proclaimed geek than The Geekery HQ. This gaming store carries everything from collectible card games such as Magic the Gathering, to miniature tabletop games, board games, role-playing games, and much more. The mission of the store is to build, support, and strengthen the gaming culture and community in Queens. The Geekery HQ also offers rentable games and hosts a number of events including game demos and tournaments, which are better suited for older children and adults.
 

Learning Express

This store is part of the nation’s leading franchisor of educational toy stores, but is locally owned and operated. Jam-packed with a wide array of toys, this hands-on shop is practically an amusement park. As a neighborhood toy store, Learning Express strives to be a hub of activity. Expect to see children and employees demoing games and toys or riding on Plasma Cars. Then expect your kids to join in!
 

The Lego Store

While much smaller than the popular Rockefeller location, this Lego Store is well liked for its better prices, organization, and laidback feel. In addition to retail models and kits, this store also offers custom model programs as well as a Pick-A-Brick wall. The Lego Store hosts several events throughout each month including a Lego Monthly Mini Model Build during which you learn to build your own free mini model, The Pick a Model Experience, which offers store exclusive models, and Build Your Own, a race using Lego city.
   

Morning Glory

40-15 Broadway, Astoria

This quite inexpensive shop sells toys, cards, and stationery, but you’ll be here for the toys. Besides notebooks and stickers, the shelves are lined with giant and small plushies, handbags and backpacks, lunch boxes, clocks, and so much more featuring your favorite Japanese character whether it be Totoro or Hello Kitty. While Hello Kitty dominates, popular U.S. characters also make an appearance. Lego sets and board games can also be found here.
 

Toys and Bags Corp

While this store might not look like much from the outside, Toys and Bags Corp actually has a great selection inside. Action figures, early development toys, dolls, puzzles, model cars, Yu-Gi-Oh cards, board games, and plushies can all be found within this little shop. The bag section is also worth a look, especially when searching for back-to-school backpacks.
