Windsor Terrace Preschool Launches Parent Association

Therapy and Learning Center now has a parent association with an executive board that will help support the school and produce its first yearbook.

Therapy and Learning Center
in Windsor Terrace is a preschool open to all and provides services for children with special needs. It also offers Universal Pre-K and an integrated 3s program. TLC offers 13 total classes, including preschool programs for 3- and 4-year-olds as well as special education classes.

TLC aims to prepare each child for kindergarten in a school that is kind, caring, and that prioritizes getting to know each child. Additionally, TLC promotes a diverse environment to prepare children for the real world. Each day combines activities of daily living supported by the research-based Creative Curriculum to promote student success.

The children can socialize and interact in an organized play setting on the rooftop playground. New additions to the school include a flagpole at the front of the building and American flags in every classroom.

TLC staff includes an education director, clinical coordinator, licensed teachers, teacher assistants, a psychologist, a social worker, a nurse, speech and language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and an active board of directors.

“At TLC all children are actively engaged in learning through developmentally appropriate practice. Our focus is on process, not product,” says executive director Timothy Behr.

TLC classes will occasionally go on field trips to cultural institutions in or around the neighborhood. The Windsor Terrace preschool is currently recruiting campers for its 2017 summer camp and for its UPK program.
