Toy Story Land Opens This Summer at Disney World

This summer, visitors to Walt Disney World Resort will have a chance to go to infinity and beyond: Toy Story Land, which will be located within Disney’s Hollywood studios, will open on June 30th, 2018. Decorated with gigantic building blocks, game board pieces, and other oversized playthings, it will make guests feel as if they have shrunk to the size of a toy.

Woody, Jessie, Buzz, Slinky Dog, the Aliens, and Green Army Men will all be on hand at the 11-acre site, along with other popular characters from the movies. Other nostalgic toys and games will be scattered throughout the area, including Crayons, Rubik’s Cubes, and Cooties, and even the lampposts will be shaped like Tinkertoys.

Two all-new attractions will add to the fun:

  • Slinky Dog Dash. This dachshund-shaped coaster is inspired by the canine spinoff of the classic Slinky toy. The colorful ride—boasting tracks and supports in bright red, orange, yellow, and blue—will zip around and above Toy Story land, offering panoramic views, but will still be tame enough for most preschoolers to enjoy.
  • Alien Swirling Saucers. Designed like the play set that Andy won at the Pizza Planet restaurant, this ride features aliens dashing about in flying saucers while guests sit in rocketship toys. Multicolor lighting and sound effects give the atmosphere an otherworldly feel.

Another longstanding favorite ride, Toy Story Mania, will be given an all-new colorful toy carnival game box entrance. It was also recently updated with a third track, meaning guests have shorter wait times to sit in the swirling chairs and shoot at fun 3D objects. And when guests are ready for refreshments, they can head over to Woody’s Lunch Box (shaped like a lunch box, with a giant Thermos propping open the lid).

Toy Story Land is part of the largest expansion in Walt Disney World Resort’s history. Next year will mark the opening of the all-new, 14-acre Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
