Nanuet is a hamlet and census-designated place in the town of Clarkstown, located in Rockland County. It neighbors the hamlets Pearl River, New City, Spring Valley, and West Nyack. The name “Nanuet” derives from Chief Nannawitt from the Munsee Indian tribe.

Nanuet is 19 miles north of New York City, 19 miles south of Bear Mountain, and just two miles away from the New Jersey border, and makes for a family-friendly area to live in with public and private schools, things to do with kids, shopping, and recreation.

The train station is located at Prospect and Main streets, and NJ Transit and Metro-North Railroad run through the station on the Pascack Valley lines.
 

Bus Stations in Nanuet

There are three bus services that run in Rockland County and pass through Nanuet: the Transport of Rockland (TOR), Tappan Zee Express (TZx), and TRIPS Paratransit. All buses provide wheelchair access.

The 59 line from Nyack to Suffern and 93 line from Pearl River to Sloatsburg have stops in Nanuet from TOR buses. The TZx line runs to and from Westchester, stopping at Exit 14 Park & Ride in Nanuet.
