The only word that aptly sums up Chrysula Winegar is Superwoman. Her blog, When You Wake Up a Mother, is reflective of her superhero-like abilities and interests. She is a communications consultant, blogger, and self-professed social media obsessive. Originally from Australia, she has traveled the globe and worked in Sydney, Australia, London, England, and now New York. Winegar has extensive experience as a speaker and writer, as well as in social media and on specialized projects. Despite her extremely busy schedule, Winegar has been able to settle down with her husband in Connecticut, and she always makes time for their four children.

Winegar is an advocate and believer in the power of mothers: “A mother is one of the greatest influencers in society–of her children, her spouse, her community, her country, her planet. Her impact from the boardroom to the PTA to the supermarket and to the polling booth is greater than ever before. Her ripple effect has no bounds.”

Winegar not only talks the talk, but she walks the walk. She has presented at the United Nations Foundation/Mashable Social Good Summit during UN Week for the last three years, and is a regular conference and seminar presenter throughout the U.S., including at Alt Summit, Type A Parent Conference, Evo Conference, BYU Women in Business, and the Mormon Women Project salon series.

She is the social media marketing director for the Power of Moms and the community manager for the Million Moms Challenge, a United Nations Foundation initiative to connect American mothers with the moms and babies of the world’s most vulnerable places. She writes extensively for the Million Moms Challenge, and guest blogs with MomsRising.org, Huffington Post and Corporate Voices for Working Families amongst others. Her work is even featured in two recently published books "Dream, Dare, Do: Remarkable Things Can Happen When You Dare To Dream" and "Deliberate Motherhood: 12 Key Powers of Peace, Purpose, Order & Joy." She has also helped create and execute campaigns such as Shot@Life, #GivingTuesday, and Million Moms Challenge.

You probably don’t need any more convincing that Winegar is an excellent resource, and by extension, When You Wake Up a Mother is a fantastic blog. Winegar makes sure to write thought-provoking posts, advocate for change in a number of different settings, and raise important parenting issues (which of course are relevant to both fathers and mothers). Winegar is an inspiring woman and her blog might even inspire you and your children to make a difference in the world. Melanie Shapiro
