First-Ever Winterfest Holiday Fair & Market to Open at the Brooklyn Museum on Nov. 23

This new holiday festival in Prospect Heights features winter attractions, local artisans, and cultural programming for families.

Winterfest, a new holiday festival for families in New York City, is coming to the Brooklyn Museum in Prospect Heights beginning Friday, Nov. 23. For six weeks, a portion of the Brooklyn Museum’s grounds will be transformed into a Winter Wonderland featuring winter activities, a holiday shopping market featuring local and international vendors, and cultural programs for visitors and local New Yorkers of all ages. And it’s full of family-friendly activities, so bundle up and enjoy the first-ever Winterfest!

Entrance to this festival will be free and open to the public, with select paid attractions. Tickets for paid events are currently on sale, and businesses and organizations can donate to Winterfest, allowing children in need to attend paid attractions for free. Winterfest is organized by Seasonal Activation Group and combines a multi-dimensional holiday experience with a taste of Brooklyn.

Some of the festivities and attractions include an enchanted tree maze in which children can explore holiday traditions from 20 countries and cultures worldwide, and Santa Land to take pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus. If your child is looking to burn some energy, head over to Snowzilla, a giant slide. Special programming designed to include all holidays will feature a menorah lighting, specialty food, and music performances and festivities for children at the Spectacular Menorah. There will also be the world’s largest snowman, a giant snowglobe you can walk through, and a chocolate dome, an interactive experience made of sweet treats. In addition, nightly live music and entertainment from a variety of local musicians can be found on the Life is Beautiful Stage, along with festive food and drinks throughout the venue.

The festival’s Angel Market will host nearly 50 local entrepreneurs and artisans from surrounding communities including Brooklyn Bar Body & Bath, Rockstar Revolution, Andrej Urem Collection, and Bearhands and Buddies. There will also be a performance stage for daily cultural programming, free of charge, featuring local arts groups. Current confirmed performances include Brooklyn-based groups Dancewave and Jazz Faculty & Ensembles from the Brooklyn Music School; more will be announced soon.

Winterfest will take place on the 40,000 square feet between the Brooklyn Museum and the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, located at 200 Eastern Parkway, Prospect Heights. Winterfest will be open Friday, Nov. 23 through Monday, Dec. 31 (see website for schedule).
