Understand and appreciate the mystery and beauty of the universe with astronomer Mark Freilich. See the moon up close and learn about and view the Orion Nebular, the Andrometer Galaxy, the Big Dipper, Saturn, and Sirius. These programs comprise an indoor lecture on basic astronomy and outdoor viewing with a professional telescope. Participants are welcome to bring their own telescopes. Experience a different and exciting viewing at each monthly event. Please dress warm.

The Alley Pond Environmental Center (APEC), a nonprofit environmental education organization, is dedicated to educating children and adults in the New York metropolitan area, protecting and preserving Alley Pond Park, open spaces and waterbodies, and advocating for sustainable environmental policies and practices.
Alley Pond Park is the home of the Douglaston Estate Windmill, a reminder of their agricultural past.
