Event description: Can rainfall really be acidic? Come learn about acids and bases and their effect on our daily lives. Young discovers ages 8-12, will also learn what instruments are great for testing everyday products for acidity. Finally the ponds, springs and streams within the parks will be tested for acid rain using equipment provided. Calling all scientists!! Put on their thinking caps and answer important environmental questions with fun and easy experiments. Learn about the environment through studies and tests, some can be done with simple household supplies. Space is limited. Snack included.

Alley Pond Park is the home of the Douglaston Estate Windmill, a reminder of their agricultural past.
