Join the Animal Care Coordinator of APEC as he teaches about the various animal ambassadors that call the environmental center home. Learn about their diets, adaptations, and how these amazing animals are taken care of in this new outdoor class. Children are required to wear masks.  Please note: There will be NO access to the APEC building or bathrooms.  This is a drop-off class and will take place entirely outside. Due to the current situation with COVID-19, children will not be permitted to pet the live animal guests. Limited to 8 children. Advanced registration required.

  • The Alley Pond Environmental Center (APEC), a nonprofit environmental education organization, is dedicated to educating children and adults in the New York metropolitan area, protecting and preserving Alley Pond Park, open spaces and waterbodies, and advocating for sustainable environmental policies and practices.

    Alley Pond Park is the home of the Douglaston Estate Windmill, a reminder of their agricultural past.
