Learn about the amazing wildlife that make local forests their home.  Live animal observation of a rabbit, Box turtle, and snake will enhance children’s understanding of this fascinating ecosystem.  An engaging nature walk and outdoor scavenger hunt will provide an additional first-hand experience with nature. Each child will receive a colorful animal sticker book to take home and further their learning.  Limited to 8 participants. Masks must be worn for the entire program. ​Ages 6-8 (drop-off). Advanced registration required.

  • The Alley Pond Environmental Center (APEC), a nonprofit environmental education organization, is dedicated to educating children and adults in the New York metropolitan area, protecting and preserving Alley Pond Park, open spaces and waterbodies, and advocating for sustainable environmental policies and practices.

    Alley Pond Park is the home of the Douglaston Estate Windmill, a reminder of their agricultural past.
