Native American Herbaceous Plant Walk

Led by Jocelyn Perez, Herbalists Without Borders (HWB) NYC Queens Chapter Coordinator, naturalist, and conservationist. As she identifies plants you will hear about their medicinal uses, edibility, and Native American folklore! Meet at front entrance of APEC.  Be sure to dress for weather. Masks are recommended.  Registration required. Masks are required for all to enter the building.  APEC is mandated by NYC check proof of vaccination for all persons over 12 years of age when entering the building.

  • The Alley Pond Environmental Center (APEC), a nonprofit environmental education organization, is dedicated to educating children and adults in the New York metropolitan area, protecting and preserving Alley Pond Park, open spaces and waterbodies, and advocating for sustainable environmental policies and practices.

    Alley Pond Park is the home of the Douglaston Estate Windmill, a reminder of their agricultural past.
