Saturday Morning Enrichment: Home Sweet Habitat

This event has already taken place. Click here for the latest events.

During this earth science-based program, attendees will embark on a short, gentle hike with a Museum Educator through the Bartow-Pell woods and learn about the plants and animals that call Pelham Bay Park home. You will be able to observe flora and fauna in their natural habitat, as well as learn about the influence that humans have had on the land over time. The spring season is the best time of year to explore the forest and coastline as seals can be seen sunbathing and migratory birds and wildlife are more visible during this time of year. Advanced registration required.

Built between 1836 and 1842, the Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum exemplifies a type of country living that existed in the Pelham Bay Park area in the early 19th Century. Officially open as a museum since 1946, Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum's mansion, gardens and landscape offer visitors a source of serenity in the urban landscape. Many city children and their teachers participate in education programs and connect to the history of the site. Mansion tours, public programs and classes allow children and adults to expand their horizons in an exceptional setting.
