Celebrate feathered critters, conservation, and community as Party for the Planet 2020 goes virtual! This special event offers you and your family a unique opportunity to participate in conservation activities with your local AZA-accredited zoo or aquarium, celebrate the Earth’s biodiversity, and learn how to take action to make a difference. Party for the Planet 2020 will highlight ways we can provide and promote healthy habitats for birds and we’re excited to share the many ways you can become bird advocates. Leading up to the celebration, we’ll provide plenty of bird-related resources and projects for you to explore. Registration closes on October 4th. Please register every individual attending the event. Electronic Welcome Packet: You’ll receive our Welcome Packet via email towards the end of September. This email will contain resources to prepare you for our culminating Party for the Planet event, including family fun bird activities, conservation action-related information, and all of the ways you can pledge to help birds before the virtual celebration. Pledges: You will have up to two weeks to make a bird-helper pledge and act on it. Be sure to make your pledge happen! Come ready to participate in a virtual celebration like no other, filled with guest speakers, animal demonstrations, a special keeper experience, and more.

  • The Bronx Zoo is open year-round. We close on the following holidays: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day, and Martin Luther King Day. Spring and summer are naturally high-attendance seasons, but we encourage guests to visit during fall and winter as well. When the weather cools off, many animals are more active and you'll encounter fewer crowds.

With 265 acres of wildlife habitats and attractions, it's difficult to see the entire zoo in one day. For shorter visits, take a two-hour tour of our most popular exhibits, like Tiger Mountain, Himalayan Highlands, Congo Gorilla Forest, and World of Reptiles. During the warmer months, guests with young children can begin their visit at the Children's Zoo and then stroll Astor Court to meet our sea lions and visit Madagascar! In wintertime, warm up in JungleWorld, our giant indoor rainforest habitat.
