Due to the coronavirus, please call to ensure this event is still happening before you leave home.
Each year the WCS Run for the Wild is dedicated to species in need of conservation support to raise awareness of threats they face. This year the event is dedicated to lemurs and will help WCS raise important funds to further its mission of saving wildlife in New York and around the world. Runners, walkers, and wildlife supporters are invited to participate and/or make a donation to support a participating runner or team. Each participant is encouraged to seek donations and there are prizes for achieving the fundraising goals.
All runners and walkers are encouraged to stay for the day and take part in post-run activities which includes costumed characters, trivia, music, and the zoo will be open only to event participants all day. Visit the resident wildlife in all of the Bronx Zoo exhibits including the six species of lemurs in Madagascar! Time slots for the 5K race for individual runners begin at 8:00 a.m.; casual runners and walkers can take part in the 3K Family Fun Run/Walk that begins at 10:30 a.m. Advanced registration required.

The Bronx Zoo is open year-round. We close on the following holidays: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day, and Martin Luther King Day. Spring and summer are naturally high-attendance seasons, but we encourage guests to visit during fall and winter as well. When the weather cools off, many animals are more active and you'll encounter fewer crowds.
With 265 acres of wildlife habitats and attractions, it's difficult to see the entire zoo in one day. For shorter visits, take a two-hour tour of our most popular exhibits, like Tiger Mountain, Himalayan Highlands, Congo Gorilla Forest, and World of Reptiles. During the warmer months, guests with young children can begin their visit at the Children's Zoo and then stroll Astor Court to meet our sea lions and visit Madagascar! In wintertime, warm up in JungleWorld, our giant indoor rainforest habitat.
