Have you ever wondered how zoo keepers take care of the penguins at the Bronx Zoo? Participants will get up close animal encounters with a small, animal ambassador, help make enrichment for the animal collection and practice the skills needed to take care of wild animals! This program includes walking outside. All paths are wheelchair accessible. Ages 8 to 12.
2300 Southern Boulevard
Bronx, NY
The Bronx Zoo is open year-round. We close on the following holidays: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day, and Martin Luther King Day. Spring and summer are naturally high-attendance seasons, but we encourage guests to visit during fall and winter as well. When the weather cools off, many animals are more active and you'll encounter fewer crowds.
With 265 acres of wildlife habitats and attractions, it's difficult to see the entire zoo in one day. For shorter visits, take a two-hour tour of our most popular exhibits, like Tiger Mountain, Himalayan Highlands, Congo Gorilla Forest, and World of Reptiles. During the warmer months, guests with young children can begin their visit at the Children's Zoo and then stroll Astor Court to meet our sea lions and visit Madagascar! In wintertime, warm up in JungleWorld, our giant indoor rainforest habitat.
