ONLINE Let's Get Loud! Nian Monster Noisemakers with the Museum of Chinese in America

This event has already taken place. Click here for the latest events.

Legend says the Nian monster comes out the night before every Lunar New Year to scare villagers and devour their food. Join educators from the Museum of Chinese in America for a thrilling retelling of the Legend of Nian. Then, learn how to turn ordinary household items into festive rattle drums that you can use to scare away the Nian monster until next year.

Supplies to make rattle drums: 1 chopstick, pencil, or craft dowel; 2 small disposable plates (paper or plastic, up to 7 inches in diameter); string or yarn; a hole puncher; beads or cheerios; strong tape; a stapler; something to decorate with (markers, color pencils, crayons, collage supplies, etc.)

View live on the Brooklyn Public Library Facebook Page at 10:30AM.
