Science Sunday: Mineral Marvels at Bruce Museum

Event description:

Families will be able to get interactive with hands-on activities to complete different challenges that vary in science topics. This activity is for children ages four and up as well as their caretakers. If your young scientist has ever wanted to do a deep dive in mineral observations, this the Science Sunday is for you. Children will be able to go through several tests such as weighing a mineral, using the Mohs hardness scale, looking at surface level properties like color, transparency, and luster, to learn more about minerals.

About Bruce Museum

The Bruce Museum is a regionally based, world-class institution highlighting art, science and natural history in more than a dozen changing exhibitions annually. The permanent galleries feature the natural sciences that encompass regional to global perspectives. 

The museum was originally built as a private home in 1853. Robert Moffat Bruce (1822-1909), a wealthy textile merchant and member of the New York Cotton Exchange, bought the house and property in 1858 and deeded them to the Town on Greenwich in 1908.
