Please note that, due to health issues, Bernard Labadie has withdrawn from this performance. This Summer Season closes with the Orchestra of St. Luke’s in an all-Beethoven program. Canadian pianist Marc-André Hamelin, known worldwide for his unrivaled blend of consummate musicianship and brilliant technique, performs Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5, a work filled with imperial grandiosity, seemingly fitting its nickname: “Emperor.” Xian Zhang, Music Director of the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra and Principal Guest Conductor of Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, conducts. For those who prefer a more casual concert environment, Garden Listening tickets are $20, and are free for Members and children under 18 years old. Listen to the concert broadcast onto Friends Field (audio only) while enjoying a picnic, admiring a starry sky, or relaxing with the family.
