On the first three Fridays and Saturdays in December, the zoo is open until 6:30pm so visitors can stop by in the afternoon to stroll under thousands of twinkling lights, visit cold-weather creatures, enjoy polar-themed performances in the Wildlife Theater, make winter crafts, and watch the animals enjoy fish-cicles, fruits, and other favorite treats during holiday enrichment sessions.
The Central Park Zoo's 4-D Theater will be showing "The Polar Express" 4-D Experience, based on the film from Warner Bros. Pictures and Shangri-La Entertainment and "Planet Earth: Ice Worlds 4D Experience" from BBC Earth.
For a break from the chilly air, warm up with birds, lemurs, and tortoises in the Tropic Zone, a steamy 80 degrees all year long.
