Celebrate the season at the 23rd Annual Holiday Lighting in Central Park. Meet Santa and friends, sing carols on the Plaza, and warm up with hot cocoa and cookies. The evening concludes with lighting a flotilla of trees on the Harlem Meer. Event is rain, snow, or shine.

  • Standard hours: Summer, 9am-7:30pm; Fall, winter, spring, 10am-5pm

  • Named after Charles A. Dana, former editor of the New York Tribune and mediator between General Grand and Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War, the Discovery Center holds a multitude of educational workshops throughout the year. In addition to hosting environmental programs for children, the Discovery Center also teaches kids about wildlife firsthand.
