The Kids Food Festival is a weekend event focusing on educating families about making balanced food choices through fun and flavorful activities.
Cooking demos and hands-on programming for all ages in the James Beard Future Foodies Pavillion include kids cooking classes with Cricket Azima and other chefs, plus food samplings and product demonstrations. Live music and other entertainers on the KFF Performance Stage include Kimmy Schwimmy and Reed Alexander.
The Balanced Plate Scavenger Hunt invites kids to bounce around the festival, from kiosk to kiosk, earning stickers and a goody bag while learning how to make healthy, balanced food choices. Presentations for parents will discuss the key ingredients for finding that perfect balance between yummy and good-for-me.
In addition, festival-goers can enter a raffle and burn off some energy with free-admission ice skating at Citi Pond at Bryant Park before or following festival activities.
A percentage of profits from the Kids Food Festival will go to Share Our Strength, a national nonprofit organization working to end childhood hunger in America by connecting children with the nutritious food they need to lead healthy, active lives.
Tickets for all events in the James Beard Foundation Future Foodies Pavilion and the KFF Performance Stage and may be obtained at www.kidsfoodfestival.com.
