    • The Hatchery is more than 125 years old. It's a great place for family outings. You can fish for trout here, buy fish food and feed the fish in the outdoor ponds. You can also visit the two aquarium buildings that house New York State's largest collection of fish, reptiles and amphibians. Although food is not served here there are plenty of picnic tables. The Hatchery is a non-profit environmental center dedicated to the preservation of our fresh water resources. General tours can be scheduled and School groups come here to study our wildlife. It is centrally located on Long Island and easy to get to with the Long Island Expressway. There are plenty of special events scheduled throughout the year and membership entitles free entry to many of them.
