Cold Spring Harbor

All Ages

Event description: An exhibition of paintings by Diane Lundegaard. Both the Library and the Cold Spring Harbor Fish Hatchery & Aquarium will benefit from proceeds of the exhibition. The subject matter of these and other of the artist's freshwater ecology paintings has been influenced by Diane Lundegaard's work as an environmental educator at the Cold Spring Harbor Fish Hatchery & Aquarium and canoe trips throughout the State. "My concern for the preservation of our freshwater ecology began while I was a member of the Citizen's Advisory Committee for Long Island's Federal 208 Groundwater Study in the early 1980's. This experience opened my eyes to the importance of protecting the State's freshwater resources. Since then, local and nationwide reports continue to indicate the increasing need for the conservation and preservation of this particular water system not only for drinking but also for its recreational value," said Diane, who earned her B.F.A. and M.A. at SUNY at Stony Brook.
