With Purim just around the corner, families with kids who have special needs should know about this High Holy Day worship service which is sure to be a fun and meaningful experience.
The Purim celebration is designed to be accessible, respectful, and embrace a wide variety of needs and sensitivities. The service is musical and interactive and open to the entire community, members and non-members, and all ages are welcome. Families will sing, play instruments, eat hamantaschen (and a variety of other healthy and tasty snacks), and come together with joy for the holiday.
The service will include American Sign Language interpretation, a quiet room, and a visual schedule to help accommodate various needs, and the synagogue will provide a social story in advance of the service for anyone who would like to become familiarized with the experience and space.
