Event description: Think the library is just for story time? Think again. This special event introduces kids ages 4 and up to the principles of air and pressure. Children will learn how the weight of the earth?s atmosphere pushes down on them with the force of two elephants, how Bernoulli?s principle creates enough lift to make a jumbo jet fly, and how air pressure can be used to launch a hot air balloon. Demonstrations include a vortex generator that creates giant smoke rings and a chemical reaction that shoots objects through the air. Registration is required.

The grand opening of HKDPL's new branch at Garnerville was held on May 18, 2003. This new library became the Haverstraw King's Daughters Public Library's new main branch featuring state-of-the-art check-in and check-out equipment, countless public computers, rooms for programs, tutors, quiet study, gallery, and more space to house the growing needs of our community.
