This event has already taken place. Click here for the latest events.

Learn how to ground yourself in the practice of meditation: a simple practice which can have a profound impact on your daily life. Integrating meditation into life helps to deal with stress, anger, illness, fear, grief and discouragement. Evelyn will explain a traditional Buddhist meditation practice known as “transforming adverse conditions into the path.” Through this training, rather than just feeling discouraged or enraged by the problems and pain we see around us and within us, we learn how to transform our difficulties into the energy to make positive change. Learn how to transform negativity into clarity and courage, compassion and wisdom. This class will include talks and guided meditations with plenty of time for questions. No meditation experience is necessary. Email with any questions. Advanced registration required.

  • Kadampa Meditation Center Long Island (KMC-LI) is a peaceful place of refuge and spiritual encouragement in the heart of Huntington with branches in Massapequa and Port Jefferson. Inspired by the books and teachings of modern-day Kadampa Buddhist master, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, we present meditation and the teachings of Buddha in an accessible manner that can easily be understood and integrated into our modern lives. The center is run by volunteers and together we have created a friendly, compassionate and engaged community. CLASSES FOR NEWCOMERS Our general program classes are open to all. They begin with a guided meditation, followed by some practical wisdom from Buddha’s teachings to help us with the challenges of daily life. Questions are welcomed, and the class concludes with another guided meditation, helping us to take to heart any insight, inspiration, or advice we wish to apply. Sunday is family day at KMC-LI. We offer our main general program class and meditation on Sundays from 11:30am-1pm in the main meditation room, while classes for children and teens are taught at the same time in two smaller meditation rooms. We offer a weeknight general program class on Tuesday evenings from 7pm-8:30pm. We offer basic guided meditations on Sunday mornings at 10am, and Monday and Wednesday evenings at 7pm. Many of our Saturday morning workshops are presented with newcomers in mind, and beginners are always welcome to attend our lunchtime classes and meditations (12noon) Monday through Thursday. Soup & Serenity is held on Wednesdays 12 -1:30pm and includes meditation, a brief teaching, and homemade vegetarian soup.
