Westchester's most dynamic female "Purse-o-nalities" from the worlds of fashion, politics, entertainment, business, and science will walk the runway with Westchester girls on Thursday, October 25th at Girls Inc. Westchester's Power of the Purse, an annual event to raise funds for local programs. Caroline Clarke, Executive Editor and Host of The Black Enterprise Business Report, will serve as emcee for the evening's festivities. Among the prominent women who will be honored at the event are: US Congressional Representative Nita Lowey; co-anchor of WNBC's Today in New York, Darlene Rodriguez; actress LaChanze Fordjour; Executive Director of USTA Serves, Deborah Slaner Larkin; Dr. Jane L. Snowdon, Worldwide Technical Research, IBM; Kathleen Tierney, Executive Vice President, Chubb Group of Insurance Companies; Barbara L. Edwards, Senior Partner at Weinburger, Kaplan, Wilson and Edwards; and Ruth Mahoney, President, KeyBank Hudson Valley/Metro NY District. The fun-filled event celebrates the achievements of these role models while affording Girls, Inc. girls from New Rochelle, Mamaroneck, White Plains, and Yonkers a platform to share their dreams and aspirations. Proceeds from the evening, which features a live auction of designer handbags inspired by the honorees, exclusive shopping boutiques, and a raffle of fine wines, will enhance Girls, Inc., Westchester girls-only after-school programs, conferences, and workshops throughout the county.
